Kouign Amann Battle 2022

The 2022 Edition of the Kouign Amann Battle was a great success!

It saw 6 chefs from all around the Tri-State area compete for two coveted awards: The Public’s Choice and the Jury’s Grand Prize

In the end, François Danielo was crowned the best Kouign Amann Chef of New York, winning both the jury’s approbation and the public’s votes.

The Grand Prize of the Jury was awarded as follows:

  1. François DanieloLa Boulangerie de François
  2. Eric GirerdL’Atelier du Chocolat
  3. Didier Berlioz & BestStudentsThe Culinary Institute of America

The vote of the public was very tight. 285 people voted, each with three votes, for a total of 855 votes:

  1. François DanieloLa Boulangerie de François – 190 votes
  2. Didier Berlioz & BestStudentsThe Culinary Institute of America – 176 votes
  3. Michael RomanoFouquet’s New York – 172 votes

The jury also tasted the Kouign Amann of six home cooks and gave the Home Cook Prize:

  2. Sylvie Hias
  3. Ariel Gonzalez
