Kouign Amann Battle 2021

Kouign Amann, literally “Butter Cake”, is also known as “the fattiest pastry in all of Europe”. And while it takes its roots in Douarnenez, it can now be found in New York as well. Hence the question: who makes the best Kouign Amann in New York?
To answer it, BZH New York is organizing the first Kouign Amann Battle in New York, hosted at Salon Sucré in the Lower East Side. Several New York area pastry chefs will present their Kouign Amann to the participants and a jury. While the jury selects the “Grand Prix du Kouign-Amann”, participants will designate the “Prix du Public”.
The contest is also open to amateur bakers in the Home Cook league. The winner of the best home-made Kouign Amann will be designated by the jury. To enter the contest, simply check the box when registering in the form below, and on the day of the contest bring a Kouign Amann for 8 people (either as a single cake or individual pastries). Registration deadline to enter the Home Cook contest is Tuesday November 9th, 6PM.

- Sunday November 14th, starting at 2PM; voting ends at 4:30PM when the results will be announced.

- Salon Sucré, The Marketline (lower level of Essex Market), 115 Delancey Street, 10002 New York.
- Requirements:
- Registration is mandatory, whether entering the contest or only attending, using the form below. Proof of vaccination must be shown upon entry for all guests (over 12 years of age).
