Get ready ready for the 5th edition of the Paysan Breton Kouign Amann Contest!

If you were one of the lucky visitors of the last edition, you probably remember the delicious pastries that the passionate participants meticulously prepared. And you probably didn’t miss the magic association of butter and sugar which creates the signature of this legendary breton cake. If you did not try this unforgettable culinary experience yet, no worries. Keep Sunday, October 18th, free of any activity which might prevent you from tasting what Brittany is truly made of.  Because, yes, it is time to wipe the slate clean, and to ask once more : Who makes the best Kouign Amann of New-York?

This new edition promises to be one of the most spectacular, with nearly fifteen chefs already confirmed to participate in the competition, which will take place within the iconic Pier 57!!

On the big day, talented pastry chefs will bring their Kouign-Amann to the public—and to a professional jury—for a delicious competition to crown the Best Paysan Breton Kouign-Amann 2026 of NYC.

Two titles are up for grabs:

  • Best Traditional Kouign-Amann, chosen by our professional jury

  • People’s Choice, chosen by you—the public!

Doors open at 12 PM, and public voting runs until 4 PM, with the winners announced at 4:30 PM.

So come hungry, savor every buttery, caramelized bite, and make your vote count. Your favorite Kouign-Amann could take home the People’s Choice!

An Amateurs’ Division is also open to anyone in the large audience willing to submit their talents to the jury of professionals. The three best Amateur’s Kouign Amanns will be rewarded with a special prize offered by one of the most renowned Kouign Amann makers in NYC. Registration for the Amateurs’ Division is required through the link below before October 17th.

Time and Date:
Sunday, October 18th:
– 12PM-4PM: open to public, tasting, voting. (voting ends at 4PM).
– 4:30PM: Unveiling of Contest Winners and Awarding of Prizes
Location:
Pier 57 (in “Public Living Room) is on 15th Street in Hudson River Park, between Little Island and Chelsea Piers. Access is from the West Side Highway.
Requirements:
